Michael Larionov (Larionov Michael Igorevitch) is artist- miniaturist (lacquer miniature on the papier-mache), pencil artist, designer, and musician.
Inhabitant of Palekh. Born in 1963. Leaves Palekh Art School in 1983. His teachers were A.V.Bourunov, A.V.Gordeev, and B.M.Nemtinov. He is participant of exhibitions since 1988.

From artist’s biography
Michael Larionov is author of big amount of original miniature compositions. In addition, coauthor or ideological begetter of miniature art-works, produced on the papier-m_ch_ by other artists.
In 1994, Michael Larionov and his wife Natalie Kozlova have collected around itself the circle of artists who holds the same views. Michael Larionov became the leader of this informal circle.
Since 1995, Michael Larionov and his circle of artists begin actively co-operate with art-producers Sergey Lasunov and Sveta Smirnova, who introduce set of key ideas for further development of original creative work and unique technologies. Since this moment title of exhibition “After Winter” became to mark broad movement of artists: not only Palekh’s artists, but and artists from Mstiora and Fedoskino. United ideas, actions, exhibitions have rendered influence in these years on conservation of principles of exclusive art in Russian lacquer miniature.
Michael Larionov has numerous followers and creative school. But reproduce Larionov’s style, either as copy his art-works, is not easy.

Style
For miniature and graphic art-works by M.Larionov is typical difficult composition with any space-semantic views. Composition is uniting by general idea. Often artwork has conceptual importance, but sometimes expresses polyphony of discordant ideas. Graphic line is subordinated music rhythm. The rhythm, on measure of development of line and compositions, now slowed, now speeds up, and always is respective local emotion. The color plays context-semantic and space role. Technique of miniature painting and manner of performance
In base an Michael Larionov’s manner of performance is underlies traditional technique of tempera icon-painting, complemented by technical methods, arisen at period of Palekh’s lacquer miniature development. Essential for development of Larionov’s miniature manner also became permanent cooperation with his wife Natalie Kozlova.
In development of Larionov’s manner is possible select two main periods. Until 1998, M.Larionov gravitate to comparatively more “large” scale of miniature. Thrashing over drawing, color have more nominal format. Since 1998, M.Larionov greatly has developed skill in miniaturization of painting. Appears manners of performance, using of it is possible only couple with having of unique “chandlery” painting technique. Nominal elements of painting now are in couple with “realistic” trashing out.
For Larionov’s art-works is typical muted color gamut, which forces to “peer” into graphic line. Bright color smears create psychedelics effect, discordance accenting attention. Local color, most often, is exposed, monosyllabic. Since 1998, M.Larionov typical technique touch become using of gold leafs. Thrashing out of painting by prepared tinsel gold and aluminum has decorative-semantic character. Gold line often discordance with base graphic rhythm and emphasizes depth of color.

Art-works by M.Larionov they are concentrated in several private collections (Russia, England, USA). Best art-works the lasts of years are in collection of largest collector of Palekh’s art-works Y. Rittman (his collection is including more than 300 pieces and covers period with 70-s years of XX age to date).

Michael Larionov is winner of several music Prizes of informal festivals.
He has played several roles in less-budget avant-garde films. He plays music in jazz-band «Safe».
